Infant Jesus Of Prague
Perhaps one of the best known statues of the Child Jesus,
originated from a monastery in Bohemia. It was then obtained
as a wedding gift and passed on to the Carmelites. Due to unrest
in Prague, the Carmelite fled in 1628. Fr. Cyril returned in 1638
and found the broken statue amidst the ruins of the church. After
the statue was repaired, miracles were reported,
resulting in increased veneration.
El Divino Niņo
Devotion to El Divino Niņo
(the Divine Child),
Originated in Columbia -1907. The statue depicts the Child Jesus
with His arms raised, reaching to us and His heavenly Father.
The Child Jesus teaches us that He will reign by our love,
when we become children guided by Our Heavenly Father.
In the bible, Matthew writes: "I assure you; if you do not change
and become like the children, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven."
This statue may serve as a constant reminder of the beautiful
innocence that children are born with and what we need to do to obtain
eternal happiness.
